Our boys love Madlibs. It is a good way to familiarize them with nouns, adjectives, verbs, etc.
The last couple of nights we have been doing Madlibs as a family, but I have had to limit the readings of each finialized story. The reason being that they are memorizing the phrases and I am sick of hearing things like "temporary poop" and "open your bum" all day long.
Yes, for my boys, the most common:
noun is poo
adjective is poopy
verb is poo (isn't it lovely how the same word can be noun and verb)
adverb is poopily
and body part is bum (only because poo isn't a body part)
The amount of laughter that word produces each time it is used, no matter what the scenerio, is mind-boggling. I keep thinking we should ban it, but...
I remember a van-ride to Vernal a couple years ago during which all we heard was the simple word, "poo" from Adam followed by squealing laughter from Caleb (they kept this up for hours). I guess it isn't just my boys, but I wonder if it is something that they ever grown out of. The answer may come in the form of my very mature David who rolls his eyes, but laughs as heartily as the boys every time that word is mentioned (okay, slight exaggeration).
Simple, albeit uncouth, pleasures!

There are verious and assundry reasons that 'poo, poop, and poopy' can trigger laughter in boys..(and Sammies too). I think however it is lost on the gentler sex as they mature. Men though we know it is unappropriate or even just awkward sometimes, still can get a chuckle because we have the ability to still think in childlike ways. Some would call this never proof that men never grow up... I say we maintain that honest, humurous nature where little things can amuse us..Example .. Andrew is known in our family as Roo-Roo of the Poopoo-nuunuu people. Sammy is Poopstain Amodeas Mozart.
Derid wanted me to say that he was thinking of changing his middle name to poo. I rolled my eyes and didn't laugh (but smiled in courtesy)
Mom did call either alexandria or deborah a "piece of poo"
by-the-way I love the name roo-roo of the poo-poo-nuu-nuu people!
Funny to sammies and Deborah's.. I know that should not be funny but I I can't help but laugh as well.. Maybe because laughter is my solution to everything.. awkard situations, embarassment, comedy ya pretty much everything.. :) ha
glad to read about your smelly, sweet, home schooling moments... I'm not sure that my children could distinguish between poop the noun and poopy the adjective and pooping the verb... way to go Mom!! your life sounds magical... and FuLL o BOYs...
